Military woman hires ideal nanny but becomes’sick’ after inspecting cameras

A mom-of-two took to Reddit to tell how an unfortunate incident involving her babysitter played out after shocking footage was discovered on a house camera. The mother, who was deployed in the military with her husband, stated that she needed help caring for her newborn, so they hired a nanny. The woman had a bad experience with a babysitter from the time her son was born until the next six months, due to scheduling and financial concerns.

The babysitter resigned, leaving the couple scrambling to find a replacement. That’s when their next-door neighbor’s 20-year-old daughter offered to assist them. The woman’s children grew to love their new nanny, whose warmth blinded the mother to the red flags. Even when she was not asked, the babysitter frequently volunteered to assist the woman. Because she had complete faith in her nanny, the mother once confided in her about her trouble nursing and how she frequently relied on donor milk for her kid.

The nanny, moved by the mother’s confession, sympathized with her and pressed her for additional information. The mother get carried away and shared additional details without hesitation. After her awful experience with the nanny became public, several parents offered what the woman should do next. The mother had installed nanny cameras in the living room and their bedroom to keep an eye on her children.

She had complete faith in her nanny and never checked the cams, but one day she was having a rough day and wanted to check on her children. “I never feel compelled to check because I trust my nanny,” she recalled. However, I was having a bad day and wanted to see what the kids were up to, so I decided to stop by. My nanny was rocking my son and tried to nurse him on my bed.”

What she witnessed appalled her. “I almost felt sick, it just seemed so inappropriate,” she said. She approached the nanny, who apologized profusely and stated that she “just wanted to help” her due to her lactation troubles. But the woman was unmoved on the inside. She decided to look over earlier footage and discovered even more disturbing things. The mother spotted an odd tendency in the nanny’s daily routine after sifting through recordings from the previous few weeks.

She went on to say, “She unplugs the camera in my bedroom when she goes to put him down for naps and plugs it back in when she leaves.” The mother was concerned and contacted the nanny the next day for an explanation. More horrifying revelations were eventually revealed. The babysitter informed the mother that she was “uncomfortable” with the camera pointing at her while she tried to put the baby to sleep, which the woman thought was ridiculous because the camera didn’t detect motion or follow a target.

Still unconvinced, the mother inquired of the nanny as to why she had not manually angled the camera towards the cot. The nanny said she didn’t know, which the mother thought was another lie because she had previously spotted that someone had positioned the camera towards the infant, and the idea of her 5-year-old doing it was preposterous. She checked further tapes to see if she was missing anything else and learned that the nanny had left her daughter in an enclosed pantry and her toddler alone in the backyard.

It didn’t stop there, much to her dismay.People on the internet advised her to check for theft as well, with one Redditor, InvisibleShadow2U, writing: “Because no one has mentioned it: check your valuables, particularly any in your bedroom.” If she’s turning off the camera, she’s probably going through your belongings.” In response, the mother provided an update, stating that she examined her room for missing items and discovered that a couple of her toddler’s clothing and her daughter’s little blanket had vanished.

Even the basket of gently used baby clothing she’d laid aside for charity had vanished. The nanny’s father later returned the items, with the exception of the blanket, which she said she couldn’t find. “I used to be a nanny.” This is completely unacceptable. “You need boundaries like yesterday,” user gatitamonster remarked, adding, “Part of making that my profession is recognizing and respecting the fact that I’m not the child’s parent.”
