An 18-year-old girl thought her mother owed her thousands of dollars. Her mother refused to refund the money when she asked. The child inherited approximately 125,000 from her grandfather and then discovered that her mother owed her nearly the same amount. She required the funds in order to attend her dream school. However, things changed when she discussed the money with her mother. After hearing her mother’s negative remark, she decided to go the legal way and file a complaint against her.
The girl revealed that she had a rocky connection with her parents that had gotten worse as she grew older. Her connection with her mother was strained further when she inherited money from her grandfather. “When I tried to get the money transferred to my college savings account, I ran into a problem,” she added. “This is my mother.” She wanted the money to attend her dream college, but her mother had other plans.
She expected OP (Original Poster) to reimburse her for any money she had spent on her over the years. As a result, when OP requested that her mother transfer the inheritance money to her account, her mother refused. She claimed the money was hers because of everything she had done for her kid. Her mother was initially perplexed, but she began shrieking when OP disclosed the total.
OP admitted that her mother had often stolen money from her room. She had broken into her safe and planned to cash in the earnings OP would win by competing in various sports. OP waited a few days before speaking to her mother again, feeling helpless. In the meantime, she worked out how much money her mother owed her. She explained how she achieved it as follows:
“When I was 13 I had decided to start keeping a notebook of all of the money I had earned. After summing up all of the money, OP found her mother had already stolen nearly 125,000 from her. She owed OP $250,000, which included money inherited from OP’s grandpa. OP marched into her mother’s room, armed with her evidence, to inform her about the money she owed. Her mother was initially perplexed, but she began shrieking when OP disclosed the total. She elaborated:
“She started yelling that all of that was hers, since she had spent more than that on my medical bills.” The youngster stayed patient and inquired as to why her mother was not doing this with her siblings. Her mother said that because she was the eldest child, OP was responsible for repaying her. OP had copied everything into a file on her computer before speaking with her mother since she knew how her mother would respond. She remembered:
“When she took my notebook and papers to destroy, I just added on what the notebook, folder, and papers had cost to the total.” The next day, OP sent her mother an email demanding payment or threatening legal action. She threatened her with a lawsuit for the money she had stolen from her.
