An elderly couple entered a McDonald’s and took a seat near some young people who were having their meals. The man went to the counter and ordered their food. When he returned, he unwrapped the hamburger, divided it in half, and gave one part to his wife. He then carefully counted the fries and split them equally as well. He placed two straws in their drink and set it between them.

The woman started eating her portion of the meal, and those around them observed with a sense of sympathy. A young man approached and kindly offered to buy them another meal. The woman smiled and reassured him that they were used to sharing everything. As the onlookers noticed, the elderly man hadn’t taken a single bite of food. Instead, he simply watched his wife eat, occasionally sipping from the drink.

The young man came over again, repeating his offer to get them more food. This time, the old man explained that they were accustomed to sharing everything. Curious, the young man asked, “If you share everything, what are you waiting for to start eating?” The old man replied with a smile, “I’m waiting for my wife to lend me her dentures!”
