Tim Conway ambushes Harvey Korman in ‘Military’ sketch

The Carol Burnett Show had many humorous moments, but few were as amusing as Tim Conway and Harvey Korman’s military blunder farce. This scene, set in what appears to be a Civil War-era camp, had me in stitches from beginning to end.

Conway enters the scene as a fumbling officer with an accent thicker than molasses. Korman, playing a sergeant, can hardly keep a straight face as Conway fumbles through attempting to release him. It’s vintage Conway; you can almost feel the cheeky twinkle in his eye as he veers off script.

The physical comedy intensifies when Conway accidently shreds Korman’s uniform. Seeing these two experts play off each other is pure joy. Their timing is spot on, and each absurd blunder adds to the laughter.

Conway’s boxers steal the show.
Just when you think it can’t get any funnier, Conway shows up in his striped undies. It’s the ideal visual punchline to wrap up the sketch. Here’s some more classic Tim Conway comedy:
