After fueling suspicions about plastic surgery, netizens are now commenting on Meghan Markle’s ankles after witnessing her step off a private jet. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend Valentine’s Day apart, according to a recent Instagram post by The Daily Mail. The public’s attention was drawn to Meghan Markle’s ankles in a photo of her coming off a private plane after returning to California from Canada, where she joined Prince Harry for the Invictus Games.

Meghan Markle wore an oversize purple hoodie, black leggings, and white slip-on shoes. The Duchess of Sussex appeared unconcerned as she descended the airplane stairs, her dark hair flying in the wind and obscuring a portion of her face. Her ankles were somewhat swelled and discolored, sparking internet discussions and, in some cases, assumptions.

“Meghan Markle’s huge baggy jumpers and oversized puffy jackets, together with her swollen ankles in slip-on [sic] shoes. “Is she pregnant or something?” I questioned someone about X. Someone more inquired: “Is this supposed to [sic] Meghan Markle with those severely swollen ankles & feet getting off the plane?” They coupled it with a side-by-side shot of Meghan stepping off the plane and a previous one of her when pregnant.

Someone else asked, “Is it really her? “Her hair isn’t that dark, and that ankle doesn’t look right. 👀” More netizens questioned Meghan’s ankle appearance, with one wondering, “Has she broken [sic] her ankle or something??” Adding to the continuing ankle conversation, an X user wrote, “I just requested this here. It is strange. Her ankles are stick [sic] thin, and this is the contrary.” “That’s a giant ankle,” another witness commented.

A netizen focused on Meghan’s shoes, asking, “Why does it look like she’s wearing giant shoes?” “Why is she also covered up from head to toe?” someone another said, alluding to Meghan’s outfit. Some, however, applauded the Duchess. “Princess [sic]  Meghan is so adorable,” gushed one fan, while another admirer swooned, “We love her!!” .”

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan returned to California after spending five days with her husband at the Invictus Games in British Columbia. Meghan’s return to their home in Montecito was reportedly planned, as she returned to be with her and Prince Harry’s children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, after publicly expressing her desire to see them.

Although Meghan and Prince Harry are not celebrating Valentine’s Day together, the site reported that the Duchess published a lovely tribute about her spouse. She uploaded a snapshot on her now-defunct Instagram Story of the goodies she had brought home for their children. Meghan also attached a caption stating that they are all rooting for Prince Harry from home as he finishes the Invictus Games.

Additionally, the Daily Mail says that while Meghan was by Prince Harry’s side for this year’s ceremony, he expressed how fantastic it was to have his wife’s support. Meghan has previously been chastised for her appearance, and the new comments about her ankles are no exception. After seeing images of her during the 2025 Invictus Games, social media fans hypothesized that she may have undergone some cosmetic surgery.
