Amazing Boy’s Cancer Photo Broke Our Hearts — Now We Can’t Stop Smiling!

Two years ago, Beckett Burge broke the internet’s heart. Now, he’s back to mend it. Beckett was just 4 years old when he was handed a devastating diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Treatment was hard on the little guy, but his sister Aubrey always had his back — literally.

Their mom, Kaitlin Burge, snapped this photo of her daughter Aubrey helping Beckett as he grappled with chemotherapy nausea. She added it to her Beckett Strong Facebook page, and the image quickly went viral. Millions of people mourned the loss of innocence depicted in the photo of Beckett’s cancer struggle, and millions more prayed for his recovery!

After two long years of fighting, those prayers were answered. Beckett finished treatment at Children’s Medical Center Plano in Texas on October 15, 2021. He’s now officially cancer-free!

“We are excited, to say the least,” Kaitlin said. “It has been a long journey. Aubrey has been a great trooper.” Beckett is now back in school and is even playing on a little league baseball team. He and his big sister are closer than ever, and he says he couldn’t have beaten the disease without her by his side.

“She always stands up for me whenever I had cancer,” Beckett said. Kaitlin hopes their story will give hope to other parents who are helping their kids through cancer.

“We just want to say that we’re super excited. Any other families that are out there going through cancer with their kids and their own family members, we just want to say, ‘Keep up the fight,’” she said. “There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Keep your head up. Take it one day at a time.”
