A parent’s sacrifice for their children is priceless. Sometimes, they have to go through unbearable hardships in life just to know that their child is fed, dressed and warmed. And it’s so sweet to see kids returning the favor. This video, taken in the Chinese subway, stole our hearts! It features a young boy and his mother, who happened to fall asleep on the ride!
That’s where her son shown his undying love and concern for the exhausted mother. He sat her on his lap and stroked her hair. The vista is just charming. Is that something that happens all the time? Raising compassionate and unselfish children with empathy for others and a desire to help those in need is not simple. To make it happen, psychologists recommend the following parenting strategies:
1. Communicate. Talking openly about feelings and emotions is the key to building a bridge between a parent and a child. From an early age, kids are not aware of other people’s feelings; they learn to understand them with time. The parent’s task is to help through the process by opening up. 2. Volunteer.
Engage in volunteer work with your child and explain why it is important to help others, and how it makes you feel. 3. Let them do chores Chores teach the child the concept of individual contribution to the common cause.
4. Praise not for the job done, but for the internal motivation Instead of saying how nice the floor is cleaned, express gratitude for the child’s care and desire to help.
