They were looking for ways to make her last days special. And they bring a little joy for her!

Animals may provide a great deal of consolation to people in times of distress. It’s understandable that when faced with the prospect of death, many individuals desire nothing more than the company of their cherished pets.

A dying woman just had a wonderful visit from her favorite pet. Lisa McDonald and her sister have been taking care of their elderly mother, who is currently receiving hospice care!

They were looking for ways to make her last days special – and were inspired by their mother’s obsession with the classic Disney movie, Bambi. “She has Bambi statues everywhere, she wears a Bambi T-shirt in her bed,” Lisa wrote a post in the group The Kindness Pandemic.

“My sister and I and the rest of the supporting family also wear Bambi T-shirts… we call them our nurse uniforms. While the mother’s health was deteriorating, the family decided to surprise her with the visit of a real Bambi- a real deer!

When the deer enters the room, the old woman is overjoyed and stunned with surprise. The deer, which is called “Bambi,” comes from farm run by a couple. The deer was orphaned and hand-reared by the couple.

Lisa writes that they paid a special visit, driving two hours from Melbourne “out of pure love and kindness” just to bring a little joy to the deer-loving old woman.“I will never thank them enough for what they have done for my mom and my family,” Lisa wrote.

It was definitely worth it: the visit of the deer was an unforgettable and comforting moment, as the mom gently caresses the real Bambi from her bed.
