It’s hard to believe that in 1959 this girl was found in the impenetrable jungles of Colombia. She lived there for about five years among Capuchin monkeys. Today we will tell you the amazing story of a little girl who was helped to survive by animals, unfortunately they turned out to be better than people.… Maria Chapman (this is not her real name, she chose it herself) remembers little from that time, knows for sure that at about four years old she was abducted by two men right from the yard. What for?
She doesn’t know. She doesn’t know why they had to leave her in the jungle. A very little girl found herself alone in an unfamiliar place. She wandered a lot, cried, and called for her mother, but no one came. She hadn’t eaten or drunk for several days and was on the verge of exhaustion. At that moment, the Capuchins came to her aid. At first, the monkeys watched her for a while and then decided to approach. One monkey touched the girl and began to sniff and examine her, then the others approached.
Marina was terrified at first and even yelled at them to stay away from her, but she soon realized that if they meant to make her feel horrible, they would have done it a long time ago. The animals later led the girl to spring with clean water. Then they gradually taught her to crawl through trees, listen to and understand jungle sounds… So it’s been approximately five years. The girl was discovered by hunters, but she was sold to a brothel, where she was forced to clean the premises in exchange for food.
Marina then managed to flee. She spent a long period living on the streets of Kukuta, hiding from the police and fending for herself. After all, luck had not deserted the girl and had finally smiled at her. Marina was discovered by social services, who assisted her in finding a family. She later completed her education and married.
She now has her own family. Marina, by the way, published a book about her life called “A Girl Without a Name” when she was an adult since she doesn’t know how old she is or what her name was. It struck a chord with millions of people all around the world and became a literary sensation.
