A new mother described how she was frustrated when her spouse failed to indicate that he cared about her and their child. The 29-year-old woman explained on Reddit that her husband has a 12-year-old child from a prior relationship and that they get along well with her.
When her husband left to see his daughter, the expecting mother grew concerned because she was 39 weeks pregnant. She then suggested sending a gift to his daughter for participating in a fencing tournament, but her husband insisted on flying to meet his daughter. She felt selfish and ‘terrible’ for asking him not to see his daughter, but she was also ‘terrified’ of giving birth without him.

But before he could return, she delivered birth through emergency c-section. “Once he learned she and I were healthy and fine,” she said, “he didn’t want to fly back.” “He said we were good now and the competition hadn’t happened yet, so there was no use in upsetting his daughter, and he was coming back on Friday anyhow.”
“At this time, I was tired and numb, so I didn’t even argue, even though my friend called him every swear word she could think of.” What hurt the most was that he didn’t even ask for a picture of our kid or to Zoom in to see her.” “On Friday morning, he told me he’d be missing his trip back because he felt under the weather and didn’t want to risk it being covid and bringing it back,” she continued.

When I asked him if he didn’t want to return home, he told me I was being ridiculous. At this point, I’d had enough and told him he could come back whenever he wanted, but that when I got out of the hospital, I’d be staying with a friend with the baby because I needed to think about some things.
“Not once has he asked to see our daughter, or even showed concern for either of us following the emergency C-section.”People on Reddit slammed the man’s actions, with one person writing: “Imagine being overdue and your husband is not treating you and the birth of a child as a priority. The abandonment and the betrayal.”

Another wrote: ““I’d probably dump someone solely for calling my completely justified emotions a ‘hissy fit’.” What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section and SHARE this story with your friends and family!
