How this Baby broke stereotypes and survived

To continue the discussion of babies who were born much earlier than expected, we’d like you to meet a few of them. Ward Mayzl weighed 680 g at birth. Ward Mayzl was born in Ohio in 2012. (USA). It weighed only 680 g. Doctors say premature boys of this weight rarely survive, but Ward did. He spent 107 days in the hospital with his mother!

The baby was connected to various life support devices and slept most of the time on his mother’s chest. His father recalled that the hospital did not fully believe that the child would survive, but the parents were waiting for a miracle:

“The baby was without a mask and without a tube. And suddenly he turned his head a little and… smiled! We knew he couldn’t see at this stage, but the fact that he opened his eyes and opened them so wide, we haven’t seen this before. He was looking right at us! I will never forget that moment. I feel like he was telling us — I’m fine!

Don’t lose faith in me!” Ward’s father is a professional photographer. He photographed and recorded on video the first year of his son. Therefore, Ward’s story became known to the public — thousands of people followed the boy’s fate. Today Ward is already 9 years old, he has a younger brother. The boy intellectually and physically meets the age norms of development.

Ms. Melinda Star Guido was only 269 g. Melinda was born in California in 2011. (USA). She weighed only 269 g. Because of the girl’s thin skin, infections could enter her body. The baby required long-term medical monitoring. She was released from the hospital nearly five months after she was born. Heidi Ibarra, her 22-year-old mother, admitted:

“I feel great because I took her home after four and a half months. I’m just grateful that I finally spent the whole night with her. It’s great. There are no words to say.”According to doctors, the girl needs regular monitoring of her health and mental maturity — this is a prerequisite for premature babies. However, after being discharged from the hospital, the girl quickly gained weight, got stronger, and began to develop intellectually correctly
