Son moved his mother to a nursing home and only paid her visits on occasion.

Do we ever take the time to ponder over the thought that what goes around, comes around? Very often, we undertake certain actions without being completely aware of the impact they have on other people. Luckily, life finds a way to remind us that we should be a bit more considerate. After the passing of his father, one man decided he couldn’t take care of his mom any longer so he made the decision to take her to a nursing home.

She wasn’t happy there, and he only came around once in a while. He received word one day that his mother’s health had deteriorated. She was devoid of emotion. In fact, she appeared to be in the final days of her life. The son arrived at the nursing home quickly. He immediately went to his mother’s room and asked if there was anything he could do for her!

The mother looked him in the eyes and stated that she had only a few requests. Hearing that, he stated that he was more than willing to grant her final wish. The mother then explained that she wanted the fans replaced because they were ineffective and caused her to suffocate at times. “If you could also change the refrigerator… “There were days when I went to bed hungry because the food had expired…,” she continued.

The son was taken aback. He assumed his mother was unaware she was dying. He then asked her why she hadn’t told him about it earlier. It was too late now. “I know I’m going to die,” his mother said, “but I think of you when your children won’t want you next to them either… And they’ll bring you here… Then you will discover better conditions… What you give is what you get… Keep that in mind.”

These words shattered the son’s heart into a million fragments. When he left his mother in a nursing home against her will, he realized he had made a mistake. We must never lose sight of the fact that it is our responsibility to ensure that our parents spend their golden years in a way that makes them happy. Please SHARE this story on Facebook with your family and friends to remind them of the strength of a mother’s love for her children.
