The past holds many secrets and mysteries that will never be revealed. One of these secrets has plagued humanity since 1964, and no one knows for certain what happened. Jim Templeton was a firefighter in Carlisle (Cumberland, England) who enjoyed local history and photography. He, his wife, and their five-year-old daughter went to Burger Marsh one day!

There were no people at the marsh that day, according to Jim’s recollections. They only saw a few elderly women, but they didn’t interact with them. Templeton asked his daughter to pose in the picturesque setting and took three photographs. When he developed the photographs, he was surprised to see that his daughter was not alone in one of the frames.

A creature with the silhouette of an astronaut stood behind her. Jim was taken aback and terrified. When he took the photos, he was certain that no one was standing behind the daughter. Templeton presented a photograph to Carlisle police, which he later sent to a local newspaper. Despite the fact that the police said they saw nothing unusual in the photo, it caused quite a stir in the press!

Following editions quickly printed the photos. Thousands of letters from people all over the world have been sent to Jim despite the fact that the photograph has been in the public domain for 40 years. They wrote to him with their ideas about what they thought was in the photograph. Despite some skepticism, the most likely (and logical) explanation is that Jim’s wife, the daughter’s mother, was in the background.

While taking pictures and looking through the lens, the photographer may have simply failed to notice how his wife moved into the shooting range. The figure in the background resembles a person with a bob haircut if the image is slightly darkened. Furthermore, the stranger’s clothes turn a light blue color, matching Mrs. Templeton’s dress from that day.

There has been no conclusive answer to this riddle for more than 55 years. Furthermore, Jim was certain until the end of his life, claiming that no one could have been present at the time. If he is correct, it is a little creepy. What are your opinions? What is the name of the background creature?
