Several deaths and injuries have occurred in recent years while people were taking pictures of themselves at scenic vacation spots. It’s not every day that you hear about someone floating away during one of these picturesque photo opportunities—especially not while someone else is taking the photo. An American grandmother went viral recently after her granddaughter posted images of her floating away on an iceberg!

Judith Streng and her son Ron were visiting Iceland when they stopped at Diamond Beach in Jökulsárlón. Despite the cold temperatures, the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a popular winter tourist destination due to its many icebergs and natural beauty. Judith Streng and her son Ron were visiting Iceland when they stopped at Diamond Beach in Jökulsárlón. Despite the cold temperatures, the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a popular winter tourist destination due to its many icebergs and natural beauty. But, in a matter of seconds, she felt the iceberg she was on floating away. It didn’t take long for her to drift away from the shore.

Ron continued to take photos while his mother participated in this once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity. Randy Lacount, a boat captain from Florida, happened to be nearby and was able to bring her safely back to shore with no injuries. Catherine Streng, Streng’s granddaughter, posted the exchange to Twitter after receiving photos of the incident via text from her father. It quickly received 180,000 likes. Despite the close call, Streng was pleased with her vacation overall.
