I was exhausted a few of nights ago after all that had happened with our toilet failing and our home flooded. After an hour-long round trip travel to boy scouts and basketball practice, we arrived at our hotel quite late. We rushed the youngsters to bed, and the teens were raucous in the hallway for a while. I was irritated, but I wanted to wait until I could tell them about our predicament to see if they could be compassionate instead of angry at the woman next door.

I didn’t see them at breakfast the following morning. My eldest kid went to brunch with our hall neighbors on Friday morning. He informed me that their coats stated Kansas. I saw the FFA kids’ doors were open on Friday evening and wanted to chat to them. I informed them that our home had been devastated by water. I informed them that we wanted them to have fun and that we would appreciate their respect in allowing our children to sleep well.
The young guy who opened the door apologized profusely for what we were going through. I spotted a message that had been pushed under our door before I went to bed. I opened the letter to look for money. In a world when some individuals hide behind computers and grow furious on social media, this young guy renewed my trust in the future generation’s ability to establish eye contact and offer compassion to the person directly in front of him.

There were two more males in their hotel room that I could see. Please tag these folks if you read this post and know who I’m talking about so I can say thank you and God bless. They are a fantastic role model for my children, and their parents should be very proud of them. I’m going to make this post public on Facebook. Please spread the word.
