A newborn baby boy was abandoned in someone’s lawn with the placenta and umbilical cord still connected. The baby was exposed to the sun and would have died if an angel in the guise of a 9-year-old girl hadn’t spotted it by coincidence. Elysa, 9, of Indiana, was playing in her backyard when she heard unusual sounds. She reasoned that one of the pigs had escaped and went to investigate. She observed small pink legs as she moved around carefully.

Elysa screamed and rushed to the home to inform her mother about the “weird” monster. “It completely frightened me out; I had no idea what it was,” she said to CBS 2’s Brad Edwards. Heidi Laub, the mother, went to see what was going on when she saw a baby near one of the bushes. “That’s when she said, ‘Oh my God, it’s a baby,’ and I said, ‘What?!” Elysia remembered.

“I simply saw pink legs kicking,” Elysia said. “I knew it was alive, and I knew we were on to something.” I couldn’t make myself second doubt myself. I realized we needed assistance.” Fortunately, the child was transferred to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where specialists determined that nothing was wrong with him. They said the infant was just a day old. Elysa, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, is the baby’s guardian angel.

“I didn’t do it,” Elysia admitted. “Someone aided me — God.” He placed me in that position.” “We’d discover a dead baby in the yard this afternoon if I wasn’t there and God didn’t tell my brain – if my brain didn’t make me walk over there,” this beautiful girl continued. “It would be a lot worse and a lot different.”
