Kate Jackson and her fiancé Alex Ashman crouched in the toilet with their infant triplets as Hurricane Irma ripped through the British Virgin Islands. The pair prepared for the worst and started saying their last goodbyes. The family, however, was spared when the home was destroyed. The 6-month-old triplets survived Hurricane Irma, making them among of the storm’s youngest survivors!

Kate Jackson (33) and Alex Ashman (31) reside in Tortola, the biggest of the British Virgin Islands, and sought refuge in Kate’s mother’s house as Hurricane Irma ravaged the Caribbean. As the storm roared, the British couple brought their three children, Beatrice, Charlotte, and Isabella, into the bathroom. Kate’s sister, CJ, was with them, as were married couple Nick and Jayne, who are family friends. Everyone crowded in the shower, attempting to stay safe while the home blew apart around them.
“First there was the balcony, then the kitchen,” Nick remembered. “We ended up in the sole remaining room, a newly built bathroom.” The roof was torn off by the storm when each mother was holding one of the kids and the two men were holding a headboard over the group. The gang began to wonder if they would make it out alive. “At one point, we were saying our goodbyes,” Nick said.
As the bathroom walls began to crumble, Nick began looking for a way out. “I walked over to the door to check if there was a way out to a solid concrete generator room,” he said. “As I pulled the handle, the door flew out in front of me, revealing that there was no longer a home.” It was a slowed-down moment. It was like looking at God.” The team was able to enter the generator room by climbing via a window. The house was destroyed by the storm.

But God protected the family. Everyone survived Hurricane Irma, even the 6-month-old triplets. In fact, these adorable little girls are among the youngest survivors! Friends are gathering donations to assist Kate and Alex replace all of their earthly things. And the trauma will take a long time to recover from.
But they got through what actually important. Please keep all those affected by Hurricane Irma in your prayers. There is still a long road ahead, and we hope that our Heavenly Father will provide peace and comfort to all those affected by the disaster.
