As the film starts, we can see the two major characters: an elderly lady and a little girl. The elder lady is the small girl’s grandma, also known as “bisnonna.” They’re having a vibrant discussion, but you won’t understand anything if you just speak English. This conversation includes a lot of hand movements, which is rather usual among Sicilians…

The elderly lady begins by speaking while clapping her hands, then moves her hands up and down. Soon after, the small child imitates her, clapping and shouting in gibberish. Grandmother has a few other actions, such as putting her hands out, shaking them back and forth in a “prayer” gesture, and motioning towards her head. The toddler seemed to be paying attention.
While she does not perfectly duplicate every gesture, she does copy most of them, which is what makes this movie so endearing. The back-and-forth between these two is quite entertaining to watch. We were all interested to hear what granny was saying. We went to the comments area to see if anybody had any ideas. They did, as it turns out!

This whole discussion was apparently about “Grandpa not listening.” True, the tiny kid is probably unaware of what is going on. Still, knowing the chat is about Grandpa makes the whole video much more entertaining to watch!
