She sat with a number of strangers that day, but when this man appeared, I got goosebumps.

Marina Abramovi is a conceptual and performance artist from Serbia. Her work delves into body art, endurance art, feminist art, the performer-audience interaction, the boundaries of the body, and the potential of the intellect. Abramovi, who has been working for almost four decades, refers to herself as the “grandmother of performance art.”

Marina was giving a live performance this time, sharing one minute with complete strangers while staring each other in the eyes in utter stillness. For a brief while, several individuals confronted her, but her answer to one in particular…. You’ll see what I mean when I say I was on the edge of tears…

In that moment of stillness, a guy approaches her to confront her, but as she looked up and realized who it was, she trembled. This was clearly an emotional time for her, and as you can see, she attempts to continue but is practically unable to. With this one, I had to hold back tears. This is very stunning.
