After being discovered in an old bedside table in France, an 82-year-old boy’s letter to Jesus has moved many people today. The letter, which was written at the start of World War II, was recently discovered. While reading the boy’s letter to the Lord, one can sense his pure heart and sincere faith in Christ. The date was December 17, 1939. Little Pierre, from Mazamet, Tarn (southern France), wrote:
Dear little Jesus, I ask you not to bring me toys this year to prepare for my first communion; I want to make this sacrifice to thank you and to ask you to take care of Daddy and to end the war soon so that he is no longer forced to travel far away from where the fighting is taking place. Another family in the area discovered the letter after 82 years, in an old bedside table. The family was moved by the child’s faith and wanted to find out who had written it.
Laura, the new owners’ daughter, posted on social media about finding Pierre and returning his letter addressed to Jesus to him. She stated, “In the house, we discovered a small treasure hidden in an old piece of furniture.” We’d like to find the owner or a member of his family to deliver this heartfelt message to him.” Laura had little information to help her find the writer, and all she knew was the date and location of the letter, as well as the boy’s name, Pierre, and his brother, Joseph, who was mentioned in the letter.
The family also attempted to locate the previous owner of the house in order to determine who owned the furniture, as well as seek information from the diocese and the town school, but to no avail. Laura then tried Facebook, where her message was shared over 7,000 times, and she was able to connect with Pierre’s daughter within a few days. Laura discovered that Pierre was 7 years old when he wrote the letter, that he is still alive in Mazamet, but that he has few memories of that distant time.
The family discovered several other documents proving his authorship of the message, including records of his first communion and confirmation. The way the children were prepared for their First Holy Communion was so lovely that Pierre wrote, “Little Jesus, I await You!” Bless all those I care about.”
