The Dirtiest Man, who had not bathed in 67 years in order to retain his wife’s odor, died after his first wash in years.

Amou Haji, 94, was heartbroken when he lost his wife to the plague when he was in his twenties. He stopped bathing after his wife died in order to keep her scent on him. We feel uneasy when we are unable to bathe for a day and do not want to leave our house until we are able to do so. Bathing is a daily requirement that keeps us clean and protects us from common illnesses.

However, photos of a man who has not bathed in 67 years have surfaced on the internet! He admits that he stopped bathing at the age of 20 and has lived his life with poor hygiene. He spent the rest of his life as a hermit in an Iranian desert cave. He was tested for diseases and other common illnesses because his environment was considered poor. His test results were all normal, and he is healthy, according to health inspectors, who suspect he has a strong immune system.

According to reports, Haji eats roadkill animals such as rabbits, pigs, and porcupines. He gets his drinks from puddles and smokes cigars made from animal feces. Haji has not bathed in 67 years because he believes it will bring him bad luck. When the medical research team in Dejgah Village, Fars Province, learned about Haji, they tested him for major illnesses like hepatitis and AIDS, as well as bacteria and parasite infestations.

All tests came back negative. He had no major diseases, but he did have an asymptomatic trichinella infection. Haji revealed that when he married, he was happy with his wife, and they were about to begin a happy life together as a couple when she died as a result of the plague. His only memory of her was her scent, and he hadn’t bathed since she died. Haji does not wash his hair or beard, but he does like to look in the mirror to trim his hair and beard.

Citizens who met Haji in 2014 built a brick shack in the desert for him. He became ill when they forced him to bathe for the first time in years. Haji literally jumped out of the car when the locals drove him to a nearby river to bathe. Despite their success in bathing him, Haji became ill and died on October 25 at the age of 94. Farashband City, Fars, held a proper funeral for him.
