This bride knits her own wedding dress for 200 hours. She looked stunning on her wedding day!

Veronika Linberg was overjoyed after making her own knitted wedding gown for less than $300. Her wedding gown took her 200 hours to complete by hand, but all of her efforts were rewarded when she received positive feedback from her loved ones and viewers. Veronika, also known as Kika, has been knitting since the age of five. Her grandmother taught her how to knit, and it has remained one of her greatest life passions ever since.

She began posting photos of her knitting projects on Instagram in 2017. She later created a YouTube channel where she posts beginner knitting tutorials. Veronika and her partner decided to marry in late June. She immediately thought that making her own knitted wedding gown would be fun. Despite the fact that she only had about six weeks to complete it, she took a chance and crossed her fingers that she would finish it before her wedding day.

She began by ordering 2.5kg of white pure silk yarn and announcing her plans on Instagram. She wanted to document the entire process on YouTube so that her viewers could see how far her creative abilities could go. “When I first considered knitting my own dress, I thought it would be stressful, especially since we were moving and planning the wedding at the same time,” Veronika admitted. Nonetheless, she continued with her plan and put her creative abilities to use.

She looked up various dress designs on Pinterest for inspiration, including those by Chanel and Christian Dior. She decided to make a knitted wedding gown based on those designs. “I had such a clear vision in my head of how I wanted it to fall around my hips and legs,” Veronika explained. Veronika had anticipated that the entire process would be difficult. She had never knitted a dress before and was concerned that it would resemble a pajama dress rather than a wedding gown.

Nonetheless, she stayed true to her vision and concentrated on creating a lovely knitted wedding gown. Veronika finished the design in about 200 hours and spent the majority of the next 45 days knitting. She had to put her other videos on hold because she needed to focus on this one. “This was the most time I’d spent on a video, and it was quite difficult having to stay on top of making the dress and remembering to document key moments at the same time,” Veronika explained.

As if these difficulties weren’t enough, Veronika ran into more issues while working on the wedding gown. For one thing, she finished the bodice after two weeks only to realize it was too big for her. She had to rip it up and start over. The sleeves of her dress were also slipping down, which took some time to fix. Veronika’s knitted wedding gown was finally finished, despite all of her mistakes, and it was flawless.

Not only was her husband impressed, but so were their wedding guests and millions of YouTube viewers. Veronika expressed her surprise at the amount of positive attention her video and dress have received. She also received messages from people all over the world expressing their desire to learn or resume knitting. Though knitting is a difficult craft, Veronika hopes that more people will be inspired to take on creative projects, no matter how ambitious they appear.

“I hope my video dispels some of the myths about knitting, such as it being an old-fashioned or uncool craft,” Veronika said. “I’m overjoyed if it inspires someone to try knitting or crocheting.” Watch this video to see how Veronika created a stunning, handcrafted wedding gown:
