When you lose your wedding ring, it is never a good thing. It is a stressful situation that we tend to look back on with regret as the years pass. Nobody understands this more than Noel Nissan. He lost his wedding ring on a summer trip with friends 17 years ago and never expected to see it again. In an interview with CBC News, he described the incident as follows: “We had gone floating down the channel with some friends of ours and… we were on our way to the car when I realized my ring was gone.”
Surprisingly, the ring was discovered 17 years later while swimming in the Penticton channel by a local. He turned it over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who began looking for the ring’s owner. According to CBS News, Cst Dayne Lyons, the Penticton RCMP Media Officer, said, “The ring is a men’s wedding band with the inscription NOEL LOVES STEPHANIE and then a date.” This could be the one ring to rule them all, and we want it back!” Noel was able to retrieve the ring after his father read about it in the newspaper.
He described his reaction to seeing the ring as “complete shock.” Not only did the ring arrive in nearly perfect condition, but it also arrived just in time for their 20th anniversary. Noel posted on Facebook about his anniversary, saying, “20 years ago, we were just kids.” We had no idea what was in store for us. We’ve weathered storms and had sunny days. Here we are 20 years later, stronger than ever.
Then God decided to surprise us by returning my wedding ring, which had been missing for 17 years! What a beautiful representation of renewal and connection. We wish you a happy anniversary and many more sunny days.
