When her beloved, who was paralyzed after the accident, got out of his wheelchair, the bride couldn’t hold back her tears. Ryan Estep’s life in Louisiana was divided into before and after his senior year of high school. A promising athlete on his way to college and dreaming of a career as a professional football player was involved in a car accident, which left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
Many of Ryan’s life plans had to be scrapped, but he did not abandon the sport and continued to train, even competing in the Paralympic Games in London in 2012. He graduated from college, then began a career as a motivational speaker and found work in logistics, which enabled him to purchase his own home. And soon after, a 34-year-old man’s life took a new turn when he met his love.
A mutual friend introduced them to Chandler Dandy. For a long time, the girl refused to go on a date with Ryan, but he persisted and eventually convinced her to meet. Following that, the couple began to see each other more frequently. On their first anniversary, the man took his girlfriend on a romantic trip to the mountains, where he proposed to her.A wedding took place in early June, and the groom surprised the bride by standing up for the first dance.
Ryan’s friends, who tied his paralyzed legs to their own, made this possible. For several weeks, the men had secretly practiced walking as one person and were ready to perform a wedding dance. Chandler was speechless when she saw her husband rise from his wheelchair with the help of friends. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” she says of the experience.
“I just wanted to hug him and spin around in time to the music.” However, it never came to the dance. The world came to a halt for them as soon as Chandler’s hands touched Ryan’s. The couple stood for a long time, hugging, and couldn’t stop crying. We were able to record this special moment on video.According to the newlyweds, they will remember their wedding day and the miracle that occurred on it for the rest of their lives.
Ryan and Chandler have big plans for the family, starting with the addition of “a couple of little athletes.” Meanwhile, the couple is enjoying their honeymoon and are relieved that Chandler has still said “yes” to numerous date requests.
