A firefighter adopts a baby he found in a Safe Haven Baby Box. He says, “I fell in love with that baby right away.”

When a firefighter in Florida found a newborn baby in a Safe Haven Baby Box, it changed his life. Later, he took the little girl in as his own child, which is what he wanted to do from the first time he saw her. In 2020, the Ocala Fire Department put in its first Safe Haven Baby Box. But they didn’t get their first baby that was given up until January 2023.

At 2:00 am, a fireman on the overnight shift heard an alarm, which means a baby was given up.Even though the fireman thought it might be a false alarm, he went outside to see what was going on.There, he found a baby wrapped in a pink blanket. As soon as he picked up the little girl, the fireman felt a strong bond with her. “I fell in love with her right away.

“She was just hanging out with a little bottle and doing nothing,” the fireman said. “I took her into my arms. We met eyes, and that was the end of it. Since that time, I’ve loved her.” The fireman said that he and his wife have been trying to have a child for more than ten years but haven’t been successful. This made them think that maybe one day they would adopt a child.

He thought about that day as he held the baby in his arms. “I didn’t call my wife right away because I didn’t want to wake her up, but I knew she’d be on board,” the fireman said. The fireman, who is also a paramedic, took the baby to the hospital to get her checked out. But he wrote a note and gave it to the baby before he did this.

In the note, he said that he and his wife have been taught and signed up to adopt. The fireman said that the baby wouldn’t stop looking at him until they got to the hospital. After making sure the baby was okay, the fireman called his wife to let her know what had happened. As soon as she heard about the baby, she started crying. They tried not to get too excited, though.

When his wife called the hospital, the doctor told her that a note about them had been given to a social worker at the hospital. When the doctors checked on the baby, they found that it had only been born for 12 hours and was probably not in a hospital. A shoelace had also been used to tie off the baby’s umbilical cord.

A baby found in a Safe Haven Baby Box was taken to NICU.

She stayed in the NICU for two days, and before the couple could take her home, they had to do some things. They had to find a doctor, take a few extra classes, hire a lawyer, and come up with a name for the baby. A few months later, the adoption was completed, and the couple got to take care of the baby, whom they named “Zoey.” “The way I found her, this was God helping us out,” the fireman said through tears.

He was so happy with how things turned out, and he also wanted her real mother to know that Zoey is doing well. “We want her to know that her child is safe and loved more than words can say.” Zoey is almost 6 months old and is starting to get interested in things. She loves to play with her toys. She also likes it when her parents read to her and has a bigger stomach.

Zoey was found in a Save Haven Baby Box in Florida.

Zoey’s father said, “She is doing very well and meeting all of her goals.” The couple said that when Zoey is older, they will tell her about being adopted, and if she wants to find out about her real parents, they won’t stop her.Even though the fireman doesn’t know who Zoey’s real parents are, he is thankful that they brought her into the world.

He is also happy that there is a Safe Haven Baby Box. They now have a little bit of joy and a happy family because of it. Watch the video below to see how the fireman met Zoey:
