Unless you’ve been living under a very thick rock, you’re surely aware that Elton John is retiring from touring after a long and successful career. After embarking on his farewell tour “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” in 2018, the Rocket Man brought it to a spectacular close on Saturday.John’s most recent performance was on July 8 at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, according to his official website.
However, the legendary musician has hinted that we might see him again in the future. According to CNN, the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour” was meant to end in 2021, but the COVID-19 epidemic caused organizers to rethink their plans. Instead, John’s touring career, which spanned the larger part of the last half-century, came to an end this past Saturday. This tour had over 300 shows.
According to John’s website, nearly 6 million people from all around the world tuned in to watch the shows. In 2018, John told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he wanted to spend more time with his family (wife David Furnish and their two sons) as the key reason for ending his touring career. “We had children and had changed our lives, and in 2015, we sat down with their school schedule and said I’m going to miss too much of this,” the Your Song star told Cooper.
The weekend of John’s final performance tour was bittersweet, as it marked the end of a chapter in one of music’s most successful careers.A portion from Elton’s conversation with Cooper was included in an Instagram video he posted on Saturday, soon before his performance in Stockholm. The photo was captioned by John:
“What a journey this tour has been, and now we’ve arrived at the end.” “Tonight is the last night.”After the concert, Elton guaranteed his Stockholm crowd that they would be in his “head, heart, and soul” forever. He also stated that he will “never be touring again,” but he did leave the door open for a “one-off thing” in the future.
