Pecan pie is one of our favorite holiday pies, and we’ve experimented with every recipe we can think of throughout the years. We’ve tasted pecan pies with chocolate, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, white sugar, and corn syrup, so we’ve had lots of chances to sample and pick which ones we prefer. This leads us to the pioneer pecan pie. Aside from being a catchy moniker in general, we’ve dubbed our no-corn-syrup pecan pie as such.
We’re not sure why corn syrup got so popular in pecan pies – you don’t need it!With brown sugar, white sugar, butter, and eggs, this has the really crisp and crunchy top layer and the ooey-gooey bottom layer that we adore in pecan pies.
It has a full depth of flavor that we enjoy, and you can eat at least two slices without it becoming cloying (thanks, salt!)…We might retire all of our other pecan pie recipes because this one is so delicious! Plus, this is a simple recipe that anyone can make, so don’t be intimidated; your pioneer pecan pie is about to become a crowd favorite!
