No one knew what to expect from Josh Daniel when he took the X-Factor stage. He described himself as a mechanic who lived with his mother, but it was another aspect of his life that moved the judges and the audience. Josh lost his best friend in 2014. He was summoned to the hospital one day to bid farewell to the person who had always been by his side, through thick and thin. His pal was gone by the end of the day.

Josh chose Labrinth’s song Jealous. If you haven’t heard this song, it’s about getting jealous when your ex starts dating someone else. The lyrics continue, “It’s hard for me to say, I’m jealous of the way you’re happy without me.” However, Josh altered the lyrics to reflect his emotional state and the sadness of his friend’s death. “I’m jealous he’s now happy in heaven — that he’s moved on to a better place, and I can’t still be with him,” Josh sung.
