He just revealed to the public that he had a serious health problem earlier this year that he had kept confidential until now. Willie Nelson reported in May of the previous year, while on tour, that a member of the Willie Nelson Family Band had tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in the cancellation of their headline performance at Jazz Fest. Willie’s recent admission that he was the nameless band member in question surprised everyone.

He was 89 years old at the time and was resting on his tour bus when he awoke in the middle of the night with respiratory troubles. Because of his age, a fast PCR test indicated he had received the COVID-19 virus. “On the bus, I had a nebulizer for my asthma, and I immediately began various treatments, including Paxlovid and steroids,” Anne Nelson, Willie Nelson’s wife, told the press.

They converted their Spicewood, Texas house into a makeshift hospital center to closely monitor Willie Nelson’s recuperation. “We turned our house into a medical facility, and there were times when I doubted his recovery,” she explained. Willie Nelson resumed his tour two weeks after the COVID-19 scare, with shows in New Braunfels, Texas. It took him six days to recover completely from the virus’s symptoms.

“It was a difficult ordeal for me.” COVID is a significant issue, and its impact cannot be overstated,” Willie said. Willie Nelson and his Family Band will perform at the Farm Aid 2022 Music Festival on September 24 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
