Minor mishaps can happen anywhere, at any time. Sometimes this is due to poor maintenance, manufacturer faults, or being in a hurry. One of the most typical mishaps is keys breaking and becoming jammed in the lock. What’s worse is that if it happens with your house keys, you can’t put it off. Before you call a locksmith, try these methods for removing a broken key from a lock without having to disassemble anything.

The first trick. All you need is a strong magnet. It will be quite simple to remove the key if it is stuck in the upright position. First, apply lubrication to it. Next, take the magnet and place it on the key to activate it. The key should stick to the magnet yet easily come off. The second trick Make needle-nose pliers or scissors with a fine tip ready. Lubricate the area around the key, then use the pliers or scissors to grab the end of the key sticking out of the lock.

Pull the key away with extreme caution. Perform this action gradually, without tugging too hard: you risk introducing the key farther into the lock. If your key broke in the lock yet the door remained open, consider one of the following solutions. The first trick If your key becomes stuck with the door open, look for keys with a very thin tip and insert one of the scissor tips from the opposite side (i.e., inside the home) until it makes contact with the key.

Push inward to encourage the key to fully emerge. If you can’t get it all the way out, use pliers to help you pull it out fully. The second trick. We’ll use another key instead of scissors. This method is similar to the one before it. Inserting it into the inside lock forces the locked key outward. The third trick. Because it is so powerful, it has depopulated on social media. The key must be turned to the right.

With a lighter, heat a piece of silicone until it melts. Place the melted silicone immediately on the lock, near the locked key. Firm pressure should be applied for one minute, or until the silicone cools. Pull the silicone back to aid in the removal of the key. To keep the silicone from breaking, do not pull too hard.
