Melanie Shaha of Gilbert, Arizona, was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor, a benign brain tumor, in 2003. The tumor’s impact on the function of the gland near the base of her brain caused her to experience dull headaches, among other symptoms. She sadly lost her hair as a result, leaving her exposed and unprotected. Fortunately, her son stepped up and grew out his hair in order to provide his mother with a wig that would restore some pride in her appearance.
Melanie needed comfort during a difficult time, and the wig she crafted from her son’s hair is a wonderful reminder of how far acts of love can go. Melanie Shaha was taken aback when she discovered that her radiation therapy could cause hair loss. She had surgery to remove a tumor from her body three times in 2006, 2017, and 2018, but the awful side effect of hair loss persisted.

Melanie found it difficult to blend in with other people when she went out in public because she felt awkward being the center of attention due to her lack of hair; she also found it difficult to blend in with other people when shopping or going about her everyday life. To make matters worse, her son Matt made an unpleasant remark about it over a family lunch in 2018.
Matt’s decision to let his hair grow out for his mother shows sacrifice and dedication. It all started when he graduated from university, where his hair had been trimmed short previously. He offered Melanie Shaha that he could grow enough hair to make her a wig after experiencing a newfound freedom with his hair. She initially refused to handle the weight, but Matt persisted, and by March 21st, he had grown 12 inches.

He then gathered his coworkers to assist him in cutting it off and building the wig. Melanie’s emotional reaction to this sweet moment between her son and mother caused tears to pour down her cheeks. Melanie received her hand-tied wig in June after shipping the hair to Compassionate Creations in Newport Beach, California. This deed will remind her of Matt’s love for her in a manner that words cannot express.
The company’s co-founder, Veronica Balch, was happy to work with the family and found it encouraging that one was willing to shave their head for another family member. Melanie was pleased with her custom-cut and professionally groomed wig in a lovely hue. When she stated it looked amazing on her, her husband, Matt, concurred. Melanie was eternally grateful for his love and support, which had filled her emotional cup.
