In 1983, a 16-pound gigantic infant made news; today he’s all grown up and still notable for his size.

Patricia Clarke, at 24, became pregnant with her second child in 1983. She didn’t expect her second child to be any smaller after having given birth to a large kid previously. Having large babies ran in the family, but no one expected Kevin Robert Clark to shatter the record.

Kevin, now 40, weighed a whopping 16 pounds when he was delivered, making him the largest baby ever born at Community Memorial Hospital and perhaps in the entire New Jersey area. Baby Kevin would not fit into ordinary baby clothes or a standard baby crib. But most importantly, he was healthy, which was all his parents cared about.

His weight was so incredible that he and his family made national headlines, including a skit on “Saturday Night Live” and a mention on “Good Morning America.” Kevin grew up to be a typical adolescent. According to The New York Post, he was 5 foot 7 when he was 12 years old.

He was 6 feet 5 inches tall by junior high. He didn’t stop there, though. On the contrary, he became even taller over time.”There isn’t a day that goes by when someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am,” Kevin told the Washington Post.

“I like to tell people I’m 5-foot-21. When people ask if I play basketball, I tell them I play mini-golf.” Kevin, a former military guy who is now 40 years old, stands 6 feet 9 inches tall and wears shoe size 17. He’s married and lives with his Great Dane and his wife, who is substantially shorter than him.

Being this tall isn’t always simple, but it does have certain benefits. We’re sure Kevin gets troubled by queries about his appearance regularly, but we also know he’s fine with it.
