He also stated that he was raised by decent parents and had wonderful children who had no problems at all. “They all grew up with me being successful, but they are not hooked on that part of the business,” he said. Toby died from cancer, leaving behind his loved ones. The songwriter originally revealed his cancer diagnosis in a June 2022 Instagram post, writing, “Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery for the past six months.
The country musician told his followers that his treatment was going well so far, but that he needed time to relax, recover, and breathe. Toby was looking forward to spending time with his family and promised his supporters that he will see them soon. Despite not having a clean bill of health for his disease, Toby continued to play for his fans a few months before his death. In December 2023, he had three sold-out gigs in Las Vegas to cap off the year.Days before his death, the musician revealed the first song he ever wrote, one of 5,000 in his discography.
“The first song I ever wrote, I was 14 or 15 years old, it was called ‘If You Had an Out of Heartache,'” Toby told me.The country singer stated that the song was properly structured and wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t particularly good either. He continued, “But when I played it, the people around here said, ‘Wow! You take it for granted on good days, but you rely on it on bad days, and it’s taught me to rely a little more every day.”Toby also said that he had experienced a peace that was beyond comprehension.
