Jane was excitedly preparing for her ideal wedding to Victor, the man of her dreams, and she had butterflies in her tummy. But when Victor discovered that Jane wasn’t a virgin, everything fell apart just before the wedding.Jane looked into the floor-length mirror at herself. Her wedding day had finally arrived after months of preparation. Despite her nervousness, she was thrilled with how her vision had materialized. She would marry Victor, the guy of her dreams, in just thirty minutes.
And she had to admit, even if his rage scared her, she was won over by his charisma. She grinned as she stood in front of her mirror now. She adored how put together she looked as she ran her fingers through her freshly styled hair. Jane turned around as she heard the sound of the door opening and saw her fiancé, Victor. Normally, before the ceremony, the bride’s dressing area was off limits, yet there he was.
He muttered, “Jane,” his eyes wide with longing for her. “You look ravishing.””Victor!” Jane shouted. “This is not where you should be! My dear, you are aware that seeing the bride before the wedding brings misfortune. Shut your eyes now and go on! I’ll support you. Meet me at the altar, please. I will be there shortly.
Excitement heated the air between them as Victor stepped forward. Breathing in her aroma, he whispered, “Don’t make me wait, Jane.” “I can’t wait to be a wife and husband in a little while. I had to have you right now.” As Victor started to unbutton his suit, he kept his gaze fixed on Jane. She was uncomfortable.
Although Jane didn’t agree with their decision to wait until their wedding night for intimacy, Victor was enthusiastic about “doing things right,” so Jane wasn’t sure why they had changed. He murmured into her neck, asking, “What’s the big deal, Jane?” “Give me ten minutes, and I’ll show you what you’re in for tonight.”
Jane felt her gut twist.”Darling,” she said. “It’s been a long wait. We can hold off till after the wedding. In addition, I don’t want to sabotage the outfit or my hair and cosmetics. We won’t have enough time to resolve issues.” Hissing, “Stop it, Jane,” “Avoid pushing me aside. I want this. I understand that this is your first time, but don’t worry—I’ll make it memorable.
Jane continued to push him away until she said the words that would permanently alter her course in life. She said, “Victor, you’re not my first.” Victor stopped, looking into her eyes to determine if she was telling the truth. Her trembling lower lip and her stillness confirmed to him what was true. He growled, “What did you say?” “Are you not a virgin? Are you saying that I was going to get married to a non-virgin woman?
You couldn’t have lied to me. How did you convince me that you were a devout woman deserving of my marriage — a successful businessman? Jane, you are repugnant. You are used, damaged products that were discarded.”Jane begged him, arguing that it hadn’t come up before and that she had never lied about it. Victor had, in fact, taken her for the delicate flower that her parents had made her out to be. She was also aware that his family shared her desire for it.
Thus, she allowed herself to develop into a charming small bakery owner while Victor oversaw corporate affairs. Grabging her arm, Victor drew her out onto the balcony, where the guests were sitting on the grounds below enjoying their welcome drinks. For all to hear, he said, “There is no wedding!” Jane, my fiancée, led us all to assume that she was a virgin! However, that is untrue! She has dated other men, and I won’t wed a castaway toy.”
Jane cried in his ear, “Please stop. “Our parents will never look at us the same!” Saying, “I don’t care,” he let her go.Jane collapsed to the ground and hid behind a column. She observed Victor sprinting towards the assembly below the stairs. Kira followed his steps as she witnessed him grabbing a bottle of alcohol from the bartender and bolting.
Jane sighed, knowing Kira would take advantage of this. “Kira,” she said. Before the end of the day, she would go to bed with Victor. Jane was certain of it. It was evident from Kira’s words that she desired Victor for herself. Jane let out a sigh, realizing that her life as she had known it was gone. Jane finally made her way from the chilly floor to a bench inside after what felt like hours.
She noticed the traces of makeup on her hands as she looked down. Every since Victor had left, she had been crying. She questioned why her mother hadn’t found her. Jane reasoned that she’s probably just embarrassed to have me for a daughter. A man said, “Excuse me, Miss,” and Jane heard it. She noticed one of the earlier bartenders when she looked up.
Jane fell back into her chair, the man’s civility igniting her tears again. “It will never be okay again,” she sobbed, her anguish evident in her unadulterated voice. “What took place? “Why did the groom flee?” he enquired. “Because he left me,” Jane stated with simplicity. “He left me because I wasn’t a virgin.” Marcus laughed. “This isn’t the Middle Ages.”
Reluctantly, Jane related to Marcus all the events that had caused her to cry on her wedding gown. She told him about Jake, the man she had dated before losing her virginity to; when her parents learned, they put too much pressure on her, telling her that Jake wasn’t suitable for her. Jake also couldn’t take the strain and turned to cheating on her for solace. Jane is left on her own to tend to her broken heart.
She shared with Marcus her belief that Victor accepted her for who she was, despite the fact that Victor was blind to her background. She was tarnished now. She ruined things. “Jane,” declared Marcus. “Stop wasting time feeling bad about leading a life. He isn’t the appropriate guy for you, thus he couldn’t understand. Everybody has a past. Furthermore, I can attest that your fiancé is anything but a virgin.”
He enquired, “Are you okay?” “My name is Marcus. Permit me to join you in your seat.””Come on, I know you’re staying in this villa’s honeymoon suite; I was tasked with setting up the champagne in your room. Let’s head over to the menu and order you everything! Let’s take a lesson from that groom of yours. Let’s also give you a portion of this day that you can continue to enjoy.”
Jane gave in to her reluctance and followed Marcus. Now she had nothing left to lose. They proceeded to the honeymoon suite, where Jane had already arranged her shoes nicely against the wall and her clothes hung in the closet. Marcus pulled off his shoes and ordered every pricey dish on the menu. Jane laughed harder from him than she has since the start of the wedding plans.
Jane saw a twinkle in his eyes that took her back to a time when she was in love.Jane planted a kiss on Marcus after dinner and a pillow battle.”That was a bad thing for me to do,” Jane turned away. Marcus remarked, “I’m glad you did,” as he held her firmly. Jane remarked, “I won’t use you to cover up my hurt.” “I cannot do that to someone who has made me feel more like myself in the past few hours than Victor has made me feel in months.”
Jane promised herself that she would take a long bath, ask Marcus to leave, and just lament her situation. Jane collapsed back into Marcus’ arms as he called her “exquisite” and planted a kiss on her neck. Jane woke up the next day to the gentle kiss of silky sheets all about her. With closed eyes, she stretched out for Marcus, only to find the bed vacant.
She called, “Marcus?” believing he was in the restroom. However, he was absent. She took a seat back, her eyes welling up with tears once more. Naturally, she reasoned. I’m a faulty product. Only enough good for a single use. When the door opened a few moments later, Jane noticed Victor standing in the doorway. “Well, you’ve made yourself at home,” he replied. “Go ahead, please.
Put on clothes. We’re enjoying an informal drink with the visitors. I conveyed word that yesterday was an error because the most of them were remaining here. I shall, after all, wed you. I’m not interested in doing that. I refuse to even look at you. However, I would appear like a saint as I brought you back.”Jane was having trouble understanding a word he was saying.
She didn’t want to be around him after the prank he perpetrated just before their wedding. However, there was no other option available to her. She recalled the wonderful evening she had shared with Marcus, during which he had taught her to embrace her physical appearance and savor each moment. However, Marcus had moved on from her. And Victor was here, offering her another opportunity at a simpler existence, a married woman’s life instead of a life of rejection.
She followed instructions.Jane made her way through the ballroom, where the cocktail party was set up. She scanned every table in the hopes of seeing Marcus, but he was nowhere to be found. She realized that Victor was repulsed by her, even yet he was riveted to her.She couldn’t image being married to him the following day after hearing his horrible remarks. However, he was a strong guy and had made arrangements for their wedding to be rescheduled.
At the cocktail function, Jane was unable to spot either of their parents. However, she did so as Kira remained by Victor’s side. She was all she had ever desired to be—his shadow. It was known to Jane that he had stayed the night with her. After tomorrow, Kira would be Victor’s mistress along with Jane, the mousy wife. She was certain.”Jane,” Marcus called out of the throng. “What are you doing with him?”
Jane felt her heart lift. He gave her a gentle glance. Jane also saw that he was wearing a pricey suit. You abandoned me, she cried. “You just walked out last night. And why do you wear that kind of clothing? Do you not work as a bartender? Jane caught the corner of her eye when she saw Victor’s mouth fall. “You slept with the bartender?” Victor spit out. “As if you couldn’t sink any lower.”
Marcus gave Victor a scowl. “One more word and I will have you thrown out.” “That is not possible for you to do. That’s hardly the power of a bartender,” Victor remarked. “No, but my father owns this villa. I’m taking command now. Yesterday, I pretended to be a bartender in order to observe how things were conducted from the opposing viewpoint.”
Jane saw Marcus smile, but she didn’t return the favor. He said, “I didn’t leave you, Jane.” “I really did. However, I was fully planning on returning.” His coat pocket held a velvet box that he withdrew. “Jane, I realize that we recently met. But I want to know everything about you because you seem magical. both the past and the present of you. I desire a future we share. Now get to know me.
But while you’re at it, kindly wear this on your finger. Jane, will you marry me? Marcus bent down in front of Jane and gave her the ring. With a nod, Jane saw herself in a future where she would be loved and respected for who she truly was. Marcus picked her up and planted a kiss on her, making her squeal. Her story was far from over.
