The Night of Regret

Once, a young married guy found himself in the company of a beautiful woman. They decided to spend the night together, and the man agreed to pay $500 for her company. However, when the night came to a close, he couldn’t help but feel that it had not met his expectations. He felt that the money he had promised to pay was excessive for what he had experienced.

Instead of paying her in cash, they agreed that he would mail her a check labeled “apartment rent.” This allowed them to part ways on good terms. However, the man was still displeased and decided to send her only half of the agreed-upon amount, along with a letter explaining his disappointment. The letter reads:

“Dear Madam, I’ve enclosed a $250 cheque for your rent. I sent a different amount than we originally agreed on because I had specific expectations when I rented the place. I was expecting a vacant apartment, a warm and inviting ambiance, and a nice living area. However, last night I learned that the apartment had previously been occupied, lacked adequate heating, and was far too spacious for my comfort.”

The woman was surprised to receive the letter and the lower payment. She instantly returned the check and wrote with her own letter, “Dear Sir.”
First and foremost, I’m shocked that you anticipated a gorgeous apartment to remain vacant permanently. Regarding the heating issue, it is available provided you understand how to use it properly.

And the room’s size is fairly adequate. If you find the furnishings inadequate, please do not blame the landlord. I must tell you that if you do not pay the entire $500, I will have no choice but to contact your present landlord.”
