“People are talking about how abortion is medically necessary to save the life of the mother.” That was me as a mother. When I was 20 weeks pregnant, I was told I had a dangerous cancer that was blocking my lungs. I will never forget when the surgeon who was my first doctor brought up abortion.

It had been years since we were able to get pregnant. I knew I wanted to die and give birth. Then I saw another doctor who told me all the bad things that would happen to the baby if I didn’t end the pregnancy. I didn’t give in and stood my ground. “That’s fine,” he said. The baby will probably end up aborting on its own anyway.

I looked around and found good doctors who helped me. At 34 weeks, I had a healthy baby. In May, I will have been cancer-free for 10 years. My 10-year-old daughter is healthy, lovely, smart, and sweet. She is a real example that doctors don’t know everything. – Sarah H.
