A woman spent three years converting a 1966 bus into a mobile home, and you should sit tight before seeing it.

Jessie Lipskin chose to design her perfect home rather than looking for one. Jessie bought a 1966 GMC Greyhound bus (the same kind that Keanu Reeves drove in “Speed”) after falling in love with it while perusing eBay. Over the next few years, she converted the car into a mobile home, and the gorgeous inside and exterior design are testaments to her labor of love. According to Jessie, her unorthodox home was inspired by her desire for a more sustainable lifestyle.

Lipskin told Bored Panda that the documentary Garbage Warrior had the biggest influence on her desire to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Earthships made completely of recycled materials are the subject of the documentary Michael Reynolds, an eco-architect. “[It] really resonated with me. I began to read all I could find about sustainable lives.

Finally, converting a bus into a mobile home looked like the ideal solution: I could easily visit different places (finding a permanent place to settle was not a concern for me in the short term), and I could continue to live a vegan lifestyle.””RVs lacked the aesthetic I was going for, so I landed on a vintage bus conversion which could be registered and insured as an RV.”

Finding reliable helpers to complete the tine home conversion was the most difficult component, according to Jessie. “I enjoy DIY. However, I do not have the necessary plumbing, electrical, or carpentry knowledge for this project,” she explained. “The biggest issue was that it was so different from working on a house that was fixed in one place.

I continually had to consider for mobility, and the angles of the bus and slanted type windows made it difficult to build the greatest possible layout and curved woodworking for my tiny house. Levels were meaningless because the bus inclination varies depending on location, and everything was about measuring angles. This significantly extended the project’s timeline.”

She persevered despite the hardships. She spent a little more than $70,000 on her labor of love. Jessie has been living in a van since January and couldn’t be happier. Jessie Lipskin adored this 1966 GMC bus, so she set out to turn it into a wonderful mobile home.
