Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may no longer have to see each other every day, but they are still very much present in each other’s lives, if only through the constant legal problems that have plagued them since their marriage. If you’re a fan of either of the A-listers, you’ll be familiar with their ongoing legal struggle over the sale of the French winery they purchased together a few years ago.
Earlier this month, documents given to the Los Angeles Superior Court revealed some shocking charges made by Tomb Raider star Jolie, including that Pitt had been physically violent to her in the years leading up to the iconic airplane incident that triggered their divorce.Pitt sued Jolie and her former company Nouvel in 2022 for selling her part of the winery; Pitt claims the two pledged not to sell their shares without the other’s agreement first. The actor claimed that his ex-wife had so “endangered the reputation of the business that Pitt so carefully built.”
Jolie then responded, claiming in court documents that Pitt became aggressive during a flight from France to California in 2016. The Tomb Raider heroine accused Pitt of “grabbing” her “by the head” and violently abusing two of their children. Newer reports, revealing fresh papers that Jolie’s legal team brought to Los Angeles Superior Court on April 4, suggested that Brad’s physical abuse began earlier than previously thought.
CNN got a copy of the request, which reads: “While Pitt’s history of physical violence against Jolie began long before the family’s September 2016 plane travel from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then abruptly left him. Pitt has maintained his innocence, and he now faces another accusation, with Jolie accusing her ex-husband of attempting to “bleed her dry” earlier this week.
In newly filed court documents published by the Daily Mail, Jolie claims: “It is extremely painful for Jolie to have to defend herself from Pitt’s lawsuit – itself another example of Pitt’s unrelenting efforts to control and financially drain her – especially because Pitt’s false allegations as to why the Miraval deal cratered can only be proven by doing exactly what Jolie never wanted to do: provide to the trier of fact the reason the Miraval deal failed, which wasAccording to reports, an insider added:
“Angie claims Brad is bleeding her dry, but it appears she wants to bleed him dry.” “Far from being out to ruin his ex, it looks like Brad has bent over backwards to support Angie and help her out financially in spite of her appearing to be so vindictive.” Following Jolie’s April 4 filing alleging abuse, a source close to Pitt told PEOPLE that “this is a pattern of behavior – whenever there is a decision that goes against the other side,
they consistently choose to introduce misleading, inaccurate, and/or irrelevant information as a distraction.”There was a protracted custody trial that included the entire history of their relationship, and after hearing all of the information, the judge granted him 50/50 custody.”
