Celine Dion has been without her husband and manager, Rene Angelil, for eight years, but the renowned singer has made it obvious that she is not ready to move on. Rumors about Celine’s love life have circulated for years, as is frequently the case with the most high-profile celebrities, but it appears that she is still loyal to the only man she has ever kissed.
Dion and Angelil’s relationship has strange beginnings, to say the least. The latter met the former when she was only 12 years old. Angelil, then 26 years her older, played a major role in her life when he agreed to become her manager, reportedly remortgaging his home to assist in the quest to convert Celine into a star. Of course, she became a star.
Indeed, the artist has previously ascribed much of her success to Angelil’s mentoring; he was the driving force behind her budding career, making her into one of the world’s best vocalists. Celine developed affection for her manager amid her rapid climb to stardom, stating in her memoir Celine Dion: My Story, Mr Dream, that she “never dared tell him that I dreamed of him every night.”
In April 1988, Dion expressed her feelings to Angelil. I threw myself into his arms. Later that night, I sat at the head of the bed, legs tucked under the covers. “I was happy to be alone with the man I loved,” she wrote.Four years later, Dion and Angelil made their relationship public, and the couple married in a grandiose ceremony in 1994.
Sadly, Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 and died in 2016 after a heroic, nearly 20-year battle. His passing naturally left a gap in Dion’s life that could never be satisfactorily filled, as the singer has stated unequivocally that she is not looking for love. “I do not date. “I don’t have a boyfriend,” she revealed in an interview with USA Today.
“This does not imply that I will not find someone in my life. If I do, that’d be fantastic. If I don’t, that’s fine; I’m still in love.” She continued, “René is still inside me. Every day, I see him through my children’s eyes. I love life and consider myself extremely fortunate to have three lovely sons. “But I keep everything open.” Nonetheless, there has been a lot of talk in recent years about Celine’s love life, with a particular focus on a younger man she has been seen with publicly on several occasions.
Dion’s tight contact with said individual sparked reports that she had discovered a new love interest. Despite battling Stiff Person Syndrome, the 56-year-old disputed the gossip and clarified that the individual in question, Pepe Muñoz, is a confidante and friend. Dion remarked of Munoz in 2022, “He’s my best friend.” She went on to say that he is gay and became her backup dancer in 2017.
“He did so much for me, even just holding my hand,” recalled Dion. “I haven’t had a hug from a 6’3” man in a long time…”It was fantastic. So there you have it, guys. In case you were wondering, Dion doesn’t appear to have found a new flame. We wish her the best of luck with her ongoing rehabilitation and hope to see her on stage soon.
