A son took his elderly father to a restaurant for dinner. Father, who was elderly and feeble, spilled food on his shirt and trousers while eating. Other diners glanced at him with disgust, but his son remained composed. After he finished eating, his son, who was not embarrassed at all, gently led him to the lavatory, where he washed the food particles, erased the stains, combed his hair, and securely fitted his spectacles.

When they came out, the entire restaurant became silent, unable to fathom how someone could blatantly humiliate themselves in that manner. The son paid the bill and began leaving with his father. At this point, an older man among the diners approached the son and asked, “Don’t you think you left something behind?”
The son said, “No, sir. “I have not.”

The elderly man said, “Yes, you have! You taught every son a lesson and gave every father hope. The restaurant became silent. One of life’s greatest honors is the opportunity to care for the elderly who have always looked after us. Our parents, as well as all the elderly who have dedicated their lives, time, money, and effort, deserve our highest respect.
