Brenda was having a terrible day, which started in the morning with a fight with her husband. On her way, she got into a quarrel with another driver, and they both pulled their windows down and insulted one other. When she arrived at the post office, her supervisor chastised her. “That wasn’t even my fault,” Brenda admitted to herself. Everyone she saw that day was giving her headaches. She tried some medications, but they didn’t help.
She was anxious for the day to end so she could go home and sleep in her own bed till the next morning. She noticed an elderly man at the door, but she preferred to return home. “We are already closed. “Return on Monday,” Brenda insisted. “Please, Madame. “I need to send it.””I walked four miles in the rain to get here,” the elderly man explained.
Brenda groaned and decided to prepare the package for the elderly man. The elderly man’s hands shook, and his writing was illegible. “Sir, I can not understand what you are writing. “I am not very good at understanding hieroglyphs.” Brenda exclaimed, “Write it more clearly!” Brenda was worried that she would be late bringing up her son from school, so she called her husband to inform him.”Could you please pick up Ava from school today?”
“I’m running late because a customer came in at the last minute,” Brenda told her husband. It was raining outside, and the old man was right. Brenda was talking to her husband when an older man approached her and offered her his old, worn-out coat. Brenda observed that the elderly man had a pacemaker. Her late father used the same equipment, and she identified it by the wrinkles on his clothes.
Brenda was comforted when she realized how much she missed her late father. “I understand you are furious with me. I apologize for arriving at the post office so late. I couldn’t hail a cab because it was raining, so I walked. “My knees aren’t strong anymore, so I couldn’t get here faster,” the elderly man said, apologizing. “I will send the package on Monday. “Please return home to your family.”
“Don’t worry, sir. I’ve already asked my husband to pick up my daughter at school. What is your name? Brenda grinned and said, “Come, let us process your package.” Thank you, sweetie. “My name is William,” the elderly man remarked as they returned inside together.”My daughter will turn fifty tomorrow. I wanted to give her something special because it is difficult for me to travel to see her.
When Brenda asked about the item William was sending, he said that he had saved enough for it and was anxious that it might not arrive on time. But it was late, and the shipment had already been shipped. As a result, the box would not reach its designated destination the following day. “I’m sorry to break it to you, sir, but if we process it here, the box will arrive late. We have already sent our next-day delivery packages.
Brenda said, “This will arrive on Sunday,” and then remembered the location was two hours away. “Come with me,” she told the old man, and persuaded her buddy to lock up the post office as the shift finished. “Where are we going?” William questioned. “We’re going to your daughter’s house to celebrate this milestone birthday with her in person,” she stated as she giggled.
