Country-Style Ham Salad

Despite being up in the Midwest, I was unfamiliar with Ham Salad until quite recently. And I’ll admit that I wasn’t completely sold on the idea at first. I love ham and enjoy comparable foods such as tuna salad and egg salad, so I’m not sure where my opposition came from. But, given the fantastic recommendations, I figured I’d give Ham Salad a go! And wow, am I glad I did.

Ham salad 7-min

It was love at first bite, with the right blend of sweet and savory flavors and tangy relish in every spoonful. Now I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner! If you’re hesitant to try this retro dish, I assure you that it’s well worth it! The dish originated as an easy method to repurpose leftover ham. It’s an excellent choice for the day after Christmas, Easter, or any occasion when you’re cooking a whole ham!

If you have a taste for ham salad but don’t have any leftovers, your local grocery store’s deli section will most likely be able to give you with some thicker-cut ham slices. To achieve the desired texture after grinding, seek for good robust slabs rather than thin-cut lunch meat. Traditional recipes vary, but the addition of a hard-boiled egg and some sweet relish elevates the flavor in the recipe we’ve prepared for you today.

Spread the salad on crackers or create an extravagant sandwich; this stuff tastes great regardless of how you serve it. It’s a simple formula to adapt to your preferences. Feel free to season it, use a different type of mustard, or use Miracle Whip for a sweeter flavor. This vintage salad dish is worth a try. Make a batch next time you have leftover ham, and you might fall in love with it as I did!
