Shannen Doherty’s final public photos, taken before her death on Saturday, showed her laughing with friends. On June 16, the actress from “Beverly Hills, 90210” was seen leaving Kristy’s waterfront restaurant in Malibu, California, with her old buddy Chris Cortazzo and a female companion.The three appeared to enjoy each other’s company and were in a pleasant mood. Cortazzo even had Doherty surrounded with an arm.
The actress wore a black newsboy cap, flared jeans, and an oversized button-down T-shirt. She was holding a brown paper bag. After a long battle with cancer, Doherty died at the age of 53.After being diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015, she openly speculated that she had just five years to live because the disease had spread to her lymph nodes.
She did, however, announce that she was in remission in April 2017.In February 2020, less than three years later, the “Charmed” alum revealed that her cancer has returned at stage 4. Later, she got brain metastases, followed by bone metastases earlier this year. Doherty has been honest about her mental and physical health for many years. In April, she revealed that she was preparing to die by sorting her belongings and packing up her Tennessee home to make her mother’s last days “a lot easier.”
She indicated in November 2023 that she believed she had a reasonable amount of time left to live, despite mentally preparing her family and herself for the worst. She stated at the time: “I’m not done with living, I’m not done with loving, I’m not done with creating, and hopefully I’m not done with changing things for the better.”
In an episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear” on June 25, she expressed hope about her cancer treatment strategy.
“The positivity is that because my molecular structure of my cancer cells changed recently, it means there’s a lot more protocols for me to try,” according to her.
Her brother Sean Doherty and mother, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty, survive the self-proclaimed “cancer slayer.” At the time of her death, she was divorcing her third husband, Kurt Iswarienko, peacefully and had no children.
