During a recent flight, this Reddit user (OP) got into a sticky situation when a fellow passenger objected to him eating a meal he had purchased ahead of time.”I have an 8-hour flight with a short connection. The first flight just provided a small cracker pack, and the second will be the same. During the connection, I had just enough time to rush from one end of the airport to the other.

Once I arrived at my connecting gate, I realized I had enough time to order food but not consume it,” the OP wrote. “I checked with the gate agent to see if I could carry food onboard, and she enthusiastically confirmed that I could. “I went and got a burger, fries, and a drink,” OP said. He went on to say, “When I was allowed to put down the tray, I did so and began to eat. This is when the lady sitting next to me said, “I don’t eat meat or fried foods, and the smell of my burger and fries makes me sick.”

However, at this point, the man stated that the woman complained louder, saying: “I finally told her I bought the food after checking with the gate agent and I’m hungry, so she’s out of luck.” She summoned the flight attendant, who informed her that she was completely within her rights to eat food purchased at the airport.”I have an 8-hour flight with a short connection.

“This isn’t her personal space; she should adjust her expectations accordingly,” another user commented. “Public transportation comes with its challenges, but eating on a plane is standard practice,” another person said.
