“I saw you digging through some rubbish over there; are you trying to find anything to eat? Are you hungry, or anything?” “Yeah I’m hungry, but no I just walk through there because I just look around,” she informed me. “Ok, can I get you a sandwich or would you like something to drink?”

“Sure,” she happily said. The homeless woman was pleasant, even though she was most likely very hungry. When asked, she mentioned that she enjoys turkey sandwiches and Dr. Pepper.

Walking into Subway, I bought her a turkey sandwich and a $30 gift card so that the next time she’s hungry, she can go buy a sandwich rather than rummaging for rotting food in the garbage.

“I got you a turkey sandwich, this came with some chips too.” “Wow!” she exclaimed. She then inquired whether I wanted one of her bracelets, of which she only had two. Despite having little, her generosity touched my heart.
