Ayres Sasaki, 35, died nearly immediately after hugging a wet concertgoer onstage at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil. According to The Mirror, the pair’s contact caused a nearby cable to jolt, resulting in a fatal electric shock. Although the cause of the fan’s moisture is unknown, Salinópolis Police are investigating into it.
The Pará Civil Police verified via translation that witnesses have given testimony, and the authorities have requested expert reports. On Sunday, July 14, the Solar Hotel published a statement indicating that it is supporting the authorities in their investigation. “We are completely committed to offering support to his family and taking the required steps. We reaffirm our commitment to completely collaborating with the appropriate authorities to properly clarify the occurrences,” the hotel’s official Instagram account stated, via translation.
The statement said, “Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends during this difficult time.” Rita Matos, Sasaki’s aunt, told Istoé Gente, “We are contacting people who were with him at the time to understand what happened.” We will compile all of the facts into a statement that we will give to the media.” Sasaki also practiced urban planning and architecture. Following his tragic death, his friends paid tribute to him on Instagram.”
