Josh Daniel was brought to the hospital in 2014. Josh had to say goodbye to his best friend, who was going to die before the end of the day. Josh has gone through a lot since losing his best friend, but he never gave up hope. Josh, 21, just had the opportunity to sing on The X Factor. Before Josh even cracks the first note, Simon Cowell is on the point of tears, indicating that this would be a tremendous performance.
Josh’s audition was lucky to be the last of the day, as the judges were too affected to continue when Josh finished his performance. See for yourself below. Josh, a vehicle technician, lives with his mother. Nobody knew what to expect from him. When it came time for Josh to select a song, he chose one that held personal value for him: Labrinth’s “Jealous.” If you’re unfamiliar with the song, it’s about being jealous that your ex has gone on to someone else. The chorus concludes:
“It’s hard for me to say; I’m jealous of the way You’re happy without me.” But Josh’s interpretation of the lyrics is what makes his performance so touching. He takes a whole different perspective on what he is envious of. Josh talks about the friend he lost. “I’m jealous that he’s now happy in heaven — that he’s moved on to a better place—and that I can’t still be with him.”
