Homemade fabric softener? Why not! I started creating my own DIY laundry soap; click here for the recipe. About five years ago, and I haven’t looked back since. Making your own laundry supplies is far less expensive than buying them at the shop. For example, I created this large quantity of softener for just $3. You cannot go wrong there!

I keep, rinse, and use a big creamer jug to easily dispense my softener. To manufacture your own fabric softener, you will only need three (3) materials, two of which you most likely already have on hand.First, mix your water and conditioner together. I used a “big” dish and started with water. Finally, add your hair conditioner to the hot water. I should have used a larger bowl, yall!

whisked the mixture into a larger basin in tiny batches until it was smooth. That’s what I get for attempting to utilize attractive dishes in the picture shoot! lol! Finally, add the vinegar, stir thoroughly, and transfer to the storage container(s). In this combo, vinegar is the true softening ingredient; the conditioner is primarily used for smell.

We have HE (High Efficiency) machines, and this, combined with my own wash soap, works great in them. The dispenser tray in my washer has a maximum fill line for the softener (1/4 cup), but if you’re only adding to a wash load, use 2-6 tbsp.
