Mariah Carey had more than one heartbreak to deal with as she lost her mother and sister, Patricia Carey and Alison Carey, on the same day. The grief-stricken singer announced the devastating news on Monday, but did not include any further details of the tragedy. The 55-year-old musician thanked her fans for respecting her privacy during this tough time.
In the midst of her family’s heartbreaking loss, the Grammy-winning singer is mourning deeply. Dave Baker, a friend of Alison’s sister, shared some insights about the passing of the 63-year-old in an interview with The Sun. According to Baker, Mariah’s sister spent her final weeks receiving hospice care due to complications with her internal organs.

In his heartfelt tribute, Dave fondly remembered his dear friend Alison as a person who possessed a remarkable blend of intelligence, warmth, and sensitivity. According to him, he had been acquainted with her for nine years, initially as a friend and later as her caregiver during her final months. Dave offered a heartfelt prayer for his friend, wishing for her to discover inner peace and be liberated from the suffering of this world.
In previous discussions, Mariah has shared insights into her complex relationships with her mother Patricia, as well as her siblings Alison and Morgan. In her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, the renowned songstress delves into the complex dynamics of her relationship with her mother. She describes it as a tangled web of emotions, encompassing pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration, and disappointment.

Interestingly, despite the challenges they faced in their relationship, the pair ultimately found a way to mend their differences. In her book, the Emotions singer made sure to include a heartfelt dedication for her mother, Patricia. Unfortunately, Alison’s experience was quite different. In her memoir, Mariah candidly acknowledged that she found it “emotionally and physically safer” to maintain no contact with her brother and sister.
