Rodrigo Jimenez, a California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer, confirmed that officers arrived to the incident at around 11:52 p.m. “When the officers arrived, they located a female, 17-year-old, who was struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210,” Jimenez told the reporter.

“The female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.” According to Page Six, Gold is thought to have “reaped off the over-crossing and landed on the freeway in the carpool lane” near Rancho Cucamonga, California. Even though her death is being investigated as a suicide, TMZ reports that no suicide notes were discovered.

Earlier this year, Gold captivated millions of viewers as a member of her high school’s dance team on America’s Got Talent, where the squad advanced to the quarterfinals. Judge Simon Cowell was extremely delighted by their performance, praising their intensity on stage. “It was absolutely brilliant,” Cowell stated during the show. “First and foremost, I loved the energy. I believe what I just witnessed is what a great school should be doing: fostering talent and friendship.

He continued: “It reminded me of seeing the High School Musical movie and thinking every kid should go to a school like that.” Gold spoke with People following the team’s performance, highlighting her dedication and commitment on each act. “When I’m performing, I’m constantly thinking about the corrections since we get them up until five minutes before we walk on stage.

So thinking about all of those and applying them is my top goal on stage,” she stated. The Los Osos High School community is devastated by her death. A fundraising campaign has been created to help the Gold family during this trying time. “With great sadness, we share that our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away,” the fundraiser statement stated.

“As a community, let us come together to support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please be certain that this money will be sent straight to the family to help them with their expenditures. Her dance team paid tribute to her on Instagram:
